Now that I’m a little older (couple of years past my teens), I can now understand my parents and the way they guide me during those times. I can see that those protective hands that seems to stop me from doing the things that I love, are actually for my own good. And that pays off.
That that’s it’s my turn to be a parent, I am horrified to know that I have this big… no, huge responsibility to bring up my son in the same values that I was brought up with. The same lessons that I learned from my mom and the same strict hands that I must use to discipline and protect at the same time.
I am scared.
Good thing there’s the internet. Unlike the days when I was a toddler, my mom doesn’t now have the luxury. She has to rely on her instinct (and probably to values she got to her mom) and that’s it.
