How do we disable the Stop+A keyboard combination (or abort sequence) for a Sun sparc server/workstation? Read on to find out…
But first, why would we want to do that?
The Stop – A key combination for sparc will send a BREAK signal to the processor and will stop what ever the server is doing. The screen (if in GUI) might freeze and it will drop you to an ‘ok>’ prompt. From this prompt you can sync the system and power it down if you wish.
Another way to put you in the Open Boot – ‘ok’ – prompt is by inserting or unplugging a keyboard on a running Sun system
So, here’s how to do it:
kbd -a disable
You could also modify the /etc/default/keyboard file:
From:
#KEYBOARD_ABORT=disableTo:
KEYBOARD_ABORT=enable
