Hoy!! Pinoy Ako!!

By Elizar • Apr 30th, 2008 • Category: Blogging, Everything Eli, SEO

Hoy! Pinoy Ako! Buo aking loob! May agimat ang dugo ko!! Boy you should hear me sing that song! All my veins are popping out!

Anyway, that’s one of Bamboo’s hits and I am sure every pinoy (filipino) knows that song.

But we’re not here to talk about music (for now). Let’s blog and  ‘pinoy’ is the word for tonight!

Have you tried Googling the word ‘pinoy’? No? Well, to save you time, there is 9 million (a few thousand more) websites according to Googel!

And checking Google Trends, looks like people really do want to know something about ‘Pinoy’ (the red one is for Qoutes… and both words are being searched by pinoy themselves! would you believe that?!):

pinoy versus qoutes

If you’re going to optimize ‘pinoy’ word for your blog, you have 9 million websites to beat! Good luck to that! :D Let’s bring it on!

Well, this is not a an overnight project… This may take a while, so it’s probably ok.

Anyway, I checked Pinoybanda.com’s rank on Googel, and it’s on page 5 with Pinoyblogosphere, Pinoy Travel Blog, Pinoy Big Brother, Pinoyblogero and others.

Most of them are blogs huh? And with the current exposure of blogs on TV, those who search for ‘pinoy’ will probably check out these sites.. but of course, they’ll probably check on Pinoy Banda too! *wink*

Know Your Keyword Position on SERP

By Elizar • Apr 18th, 2008 • Category: Blogging, Everything Eli, SEO

How would you know the position of the keywords your optimizing on Google or Yahoo (or MSN or Live)? Do you manually search for it and look for your blog post on each and every page… say till you reach the 10th page and decided to stop and that your post is nowhere to be found in the search engine’s SERP?

To tell you with all honesty, I do.. or did that till Allen of Silkenhut post a tip (a site) where you put in your keyword and the domain and it will search your position for you! Big help! (I am such a lousy searcher… too lazy to find things that would easy my blog life. )

Then I found out about this firefox extension that SEO Book’s Aaron Wall developed. Great great help! The firefox plugin is called Rank Checker.

It’s very easy to use. Just like any other tool you used before, Rank Checker can search up to 20 keywords (in one domain or several domain) at a time!

You can save results for future reference. You create several profile.. So, in case you have several blogs, you can create one for each, where each profile/domain can have 20 keywords.

Try it now! :D hehehe,

My Googel Adsense Improvement

By Elizar • Apr 2nd, 2008 • Category: Everything Eli, Google, SEO

Here’s a one time(?) post/report on my Google Adsense improvement thanks to the misspellings of words and of course SEO!

This aint the first time I ever posted my Adsense earnings here. There’s that famous $10 per month adsense earning for several months.

But that’s not completely true, $10 may have been an average Adsense earning for a couple of months

(and the image is gone.. :D)
(I don’t know if I’m violating any rules posting this, please advise me, thanks)

I was actually satisfied with those figures… At least I’ll get a Google check after 10 months right? :)

But for the last 2 weeks of March, since we stumbled upon Googel (and other misspelled words), earnings went a couple of notch up! That 2 weeks SEO work made my adsense earnings 6 times bigger!

(image taken down..better safe than sorry.. )

That was the good news, the happy news, the uplifting motivational news! The bad news is, my googel and yahhoo entries are no longer showing on Google’s SERP! tsk tsk.. With this depression, I might bloat up! I need a Phentermine.. it’s a diet pill :)

Sayang! Any tips mga master?

Eli’s into SEO: Marian Rivera vs. Angel Locsin

By Elizar • Mar 25th, 2008 • Category: Blogging, Everything Eli, SEO

For those of you who visits me here, you can also follow me at elizar.palad.info where most of my post there are (hopefully) goldmine keywords and that’s also the place where I do the SEO challenge.. my opponent? Myself.

This 3 month old blog was suppose to be used to optimize the “Beatles Lyrics” keywords but I find it very difficult with all those competition and thousands of websites dedicated to The Beatles made it even more harder.

I’ve been optimizing the following keywords for a month now:

And I am happy to say that all of them are doing pretty good! And most of my traffic then was from these keywords. This was the time before we did the ‘Googel‘ keyword, which was only started last week. Now most visitors arrived in that post.

Here’s the search trend for the two young, hot, sexy actress:

angel-locsin-vs-marian-rivera

As you can see, people (which I guess most if not all are Filipinos) has been searching information for “Angel Locsin” since early 2005. That’s before Darna ain’t it?

Marian’s fame in the search engine only started mid-2007. I’m guessing that’s when Marimar started airing?

Anyway, with dyesebel coming, I’m sure people will continue searching for “Marian Rivera” so I guess everyone who’s into SEO should start optimizing it now huh?

Alright, happy optimizing! And btw, if you ever find yourself on page 1 for “angel locsin”, pa-link naman.. I’m stuck at page 2.. ayaw tumaas.. :) Unlike Marian, where I’ve been page 1 for a couple of days now. :)

Let the game begin!

‘Googel’ Why Did I Gave It Away?

By Elizar • Mar 22nd, 2008 • Category: Blogging, Everything Eli, SEO

Why did I gave it away? The ‘Googel‘ keyword, that is. That’s the question I asked myself after reading Karlo’s Googel post. He really do have a point there. Why would I want to share it and let everyone knows about it than just keep it to myself?

Here’s why…

Like I said a zillion time before, I’m quite new in this thing they are calling SEO. The first time I was ever exposed to it was when I joined the ‘Marhgil Macuha‘ contest (which I won the Yahoo part btw)… I learned a couple of things then, specially those shared by other joiners.

I also met learned about the blogs of other SEO fanatics (subscribed to their blogs of course) which I then applied when I joined Pinoy Money Talk’s SEO contest (which I almost bagged the prize, my Pinoy Banda entry slipped in the last minute or so… Darn! :)

I really never looked at it like it’s a competition or we have to beat anyone to win. It’s like any other game/sports, let’s do it for the fun of it. If I didn’t tell anybody, where’s the fun in that? There’s no thrill to get to the first page. It’s better and a little challenging and will motivate you if you know that you’re not the only one who’s trying to conquer Googel.

So why share it?

  • Discovered new blogs (yeah, sorry I don’t blog hop or drop comments etc etc.)
  • Learned SEO techniques (if the joiners will share them)
  • For the fun of it

And hey, since we’re doing Googel.. Why not do Yahhoo too, right? See sa first page! :D

Calling SEO Freaks! What in Heaven is Googel?!

By Elizar • Mar 18th, 2008 • Category: Blogging, Everything Eli, SEO

Here’s a new one I want to share to those fellow SEO freaks who are continually in search for high-trend but low-dense keyword to optimized!

Googel!

What in the world Googel? Well, just like Yutube and vedio, Googel is the most common misspelled word for Google that people use. There’s even a Wikipedia article for it! Other common typo error for Google is Googol, Gogle, gobble gogle gogol, and others.

Check out the trends for this keyword and how big the volume search is compared with our ‘pinay Sc@ndal’ keywords:

With that super big searches and only 800K search result, this is a perfect keyword to get that extra ‘kasshingg’ from Adsense.

googel.JPG

So what are we waiting for? Time to put those SEO-optimizing hat and start optimizing! Let’s race to the front page of Googel! See you guys there in one month? 2 months? Let’s check April 18!

You could also try Googol which is almost the same as Pinay Sc@ndal

Anyway, see you sa front page ng Google for Googel! Cheers!

Pinoy Money Talk SEO Contest: I Give Up!

By Elizar • Mar 8th, 2008 • Category: Blogging, Contests, Humour / Funny, SEO

It’s still a few more days before the end of PMT’s SEO contest (March 14) but I finally gave up trying to complete with those SEO pros… ItsonmyTv, ShannonXJ, the guy behind Pinoy Compuworld, Rmil of BabyFace, and of course Jehzeel for topping Google for more than a couple of days It took some of my time and energy optimizing the ‘pinoy money talk‘ keywords and I don’t think I will make it to Google’s top list… Although I may not win, I’m still glad I joined the contest, there is still a bit of happiness inside, a sense of victory for having reached Google’s first page!

pinoy money taok

There’s even one time where I reached to top spot! Second only to PMT itself! (But I’m not sure if my Google account was logged when I checked it. :) The only disappointing thing that happened during this contest was my blog’s PR dropped from PR 3 to PR 0! Darn it! It’s probably those backlinks I created… Google must have thought I’m spamming…which in a way, I am.. :)

How in heaven can I regain my PR back? Haaayy.. Darn! I should relax.. don’t want to admit myself on a drug treatment center.. :)
