Publish Post While On Vacation

Yesterday, my question of ‘vanishing posts’ has been answered indirectly by some of my blogger mates. During my PPP days, I used to wonder where several of my posts went whenever I published a time-shifted post. No trace. Nothing in posts section too. It’s in the ‘future’!

Sel posted a couple of articles while he was on a luxury vacations and away from his computer. This is exactly what Lucia said, even pro-blogger have their own life. But being a pro blogger, they don’t leave huge gaps between post. How did they managed posting regularly? Selaplana did what is called time stamping post.

Lucia explained further and noted a few problems. You can check her Secret to Posting Regularly. This is exactly what Sel and I (me, accidentally) did by modifying the the Post Timestamp section of Wordpress and setting the time of post to the future time/date.

The problem is Wordpress pings blog services and your feed reader every time you click on the publish button. So those services will be notified that there is a new post even if it not yet visible to you blog.

How do you solve this?

Download and enable these two plugins: WP-Cron Future pings and WP-Cron.

After that, you’re good to go!

PS:

I wrote this 2 days before it was published! :)
