Being Nationalistic
Nationalism is a hard topic to discuss in a country where most people are regionalistic as a result of the country's archipelagic features. Yes, I'm specifically talking about the Philippines.
Because of its people's regionalistic attitude, being nationalistic is blurred. The difference between the two is sometimes hard to distinguish. But should they be separated? Is it even possible?
I simply think that when you are regionalistic, then you must be nationalistic in a sense since a region is clearly a part of the nation. Of course, to be truly nationalistic means that you actually concern yourself with the matters of the whole nation. Being regionalistic is not a bad start but we should box ourselves within the concerns of the region only. Let us expand our horizon.
